Across Colorado, volunteer attorneys help bridge the justice gap by providing free legal services to people who otherwise couldn’t afford legal representation. Behind those efforts are organizations that recruit volunteers, coordinate legal clinics, connect people with attorneys, and ensure legal help reaches communities across the state.

As part of our 2026 Grantee Spotlight Series, over the next few weeks we’ll be highlighting organizations receiving COLTAF grants and the important work they do to expand access to justice.

Today, we’re featuring six organizations that are strengthening pro bono legal services in communities across Colorado.

Alpine Legal Services

Serving communities from Parachute to Aspen since 1987, Alpine Legal Services provides civil legal assistance, outreach, and education in family law, housing, elder law, immigration, and other civil legal matters. By serving Colorado’s mountain communities, Alpine helps ensure geography isn’t a barrier to accessing justice.

Larimer County Bar Association Pro Bono Program

The Larimer County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Program connects qualifying residents with volunteer attorneys while also offering legal resources such as pro se classes, referral services, and protection order clinics. Together, these services expand access to legal assistance throughout Larimer County.

Pikes Peak Justice & Pro Bono Center (The Justice Center)

Since 2011, the Pikes Peak Justice & Pro Bono Center has worked to increase access to justice throughout the Pikes Peak region. Through free legal clinics, referrals to free and reduced-cost attorneys, educational resources, and community outreach, the organization helps connect people with the legal help they need.

Pro Bono Project of Mesa County

The Pro Bono Project of Mesa County provides free civil legal services to low-income residents, with a particular focus on survivors of domestic violence, crime victims, and families facing barriers to safety and stability. Through direct representation, legal clinics, and community education, the organization helps western Colorado residents navigate life-changing legal challenges.

San Luis Valley Bar Association Pro Bono Project

Serving six counties in the San Luis Valley, the San Luis Valley Bar Association Pro Bono Project assists indigent applicants with civil legal needs through referral to volunteer attorneys. By expanding access to legal advice and representation in rural communities, the program helps ensure more Coloradans can exercise their legal rights, regardless of where they live.

Weld County Legal Services

Weld County Legal Services helps lower-income residents find affordable and pro bono legal assistance while also offering legal clinics and educational events. The organization works to make civil legal help more accessible and practical for individuals and families throughout Weld County.

Each of these organizations plays a unique role in expanding access to justice, reflecting the diverse needs of communities across Colorado. From rural legal clinics and volunteer attorney referrals to direct representation and legal education, their work helps ensure more Coloradans can access the civil legal assistance they need when it matters most.
